Happening or doing something at the agreed or proper time; on time.
Denoting or relating to an action that takes place at a particular point in time.
precise – exact – accurate – prompt
What is on time to you? Is it 10 minutes early? Is it right on time or can it be 3-5 minutes past?
I go round and round about this with my business partner, whom is also my mother, so we decided to forward this question on to you reader.
Is this a generational problem? Is it a personality trait? Or does it just depend on the situation?
A Typical Family Dinner :
The phone call is made that dinner will be ready at 2:00 on Sunday.
At 1:15 the doorbell rings and Grandma has arrived.
By 1:45 the majority of the family has arrived.
By 1:50 the cell phones are out and calls are being made to those who have yet to arrive questioning how long they’ll be.
Always in route but not quite there, I state: “ I am on my way, I am almost there.” I will end up arriving at 2:00 or 2:05.
So is this a generational thing or a personality thing?
Or is being to the family dinner at 2:05 just different than being to a job interview 10 minutes early?
We would love to know your opinion.
